Network printer: maybe not connected?

I connected to a network printer and I could print a test page. However, when I wanted to print anything else, it got blocked and the printer status was “maybe not connected”.

Start the CUPS daemon on your machine:

sudo service cups status

Then you should see something similar:

cups start/running, process 897

Printing should work now.

Start cupsd on boot

After upgrading to Ubuntu 11.10, cupsd didn’t start automatically on boot. Here I found the following fix:

sudo apt-get install --reinstall cups
