dropbox installation

To install dropbox, visit the page https://www.dropbox.com/downloading?src=index. In short, you need to do the following:

  • Install the .deb file.
  • Install Dropbox’s public key (sudo apt-key adv --keyserver pgp.mit.edu --recv-keys 5044912E).

Then you will find Dropbox under Applications -> Internet.

Update (20130309)
Here is how I installed Dropbox under Ubuntu 12.10.

$ sudo apt-key adv --keyserver pgp.mit.edu --recv-keys 5044912E
$ sudo add-apt-repository "deb http://linux.dropbox.com/ubuntu quantal main"
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install dropbox

    I was impressed with UbuntuOne and dropbox but DropItToMe looks fantastic as well. I will check it more before deciding which (or both) to use

      I didn’t know about DropItToMe, thanks. Dropbox has the advantage that it runs on several platforms. Sometimes I use Windows too, so thanks to Dropbox I have a common folder in any OS. As I know, UbuntuOne only runs under Ubuntu.
